Sophia Koesterer is a second year undergraduate student at IUPUI pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She has taken classes on the topic of human sexuality and is hoping to engage in additional course focused on the study of sexuality. She has a passion for working towards social justice and is a member of IUPUI’s chapter of Women4Change. She wants to help spread a sex positive mindset to others around her while advocating for comprehensive sex education.
She is currently assisting on research that is focused on studying the effects of schizophrenia on an individual’s social functioning. This research is aiming to develop clinical approaches that may be implemented to decrease the negative effects schizophrenia brings to an individual.
She is planning on pursuing an advanced degree in clinical psychology. She wants to be able to use her education and personal experience to help others on their journey. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community herself, she hopes to be able to provide specialized counseling for individuals within the community.
